Job summary

Xpera Risk Mitigation & Investigation (Xpera) is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team in a permanent, full-time, fully remote role across Canada. You’ll ensure accurate, on-time payroll processing, maintain confidential records, and collaborate with HR and Finance to support day-to-day payroll operations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in payroll or accounting, strong Excel skills, and experience with HRIS systems like BambooHR. PCP designation is an asset.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of payroll or accounting experience.
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS, including BambooHR.
• Post-secondary education in Finance, Business, or HR preferred.
• PCP designation is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and discretion with confidential information.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficient in Excel and payroll data reconciliation.
• Solid understanding of federal and provincial payroll rules.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payrolls accurately and on time per policy and law.
• Review hours, overtime, vacation, leaves, bonuses, deductions, and adjustments.
• Process new hires, terminations, transfers, and salary changes with proper docs.
• Maintain confidential records in BambooHR.
• Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies with HR/management.
• Reconcile payroll registers, GLs, deductions, benefits, and liabilities; assist journals.
• Assist remittances, T4s, ROEs, and year-end documentation.
• Support payroll audits and government inquiries with required reports.
• Assist payroll system maintenance, testing, and data validation.
• Collaborate with Payroll Manager, HR, and Finance to meet deadlines.
