Job summary

Best Buy Canada is seeking a Software Development Manager to inspire and guide a talented development group in a remote-first, Vancouver-based setting. You will drive high‑quality product delivery, mentor engineers, and help shape product roadmaps alongside product managers.

You will apply strong backend experience with Java/Spring Boot, coding best practices, and modern AI tooling to enable scalable, resilient services across peak shopping periods.

Qualifications

• 3+ years leading a technical team; supporting employees' learning and development through mentorship and coaching as well as hiring, onboarding, and general team leadership.
• Demonstrated experience in building high quality products in an Agile development environment.
• Proven hands-on backend development experience on a Java / Spring Boot microservices stack, including solid understanding of development practices, code standards, and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and guide developers by providing continuous feedback for technical and leadership growth.
• Oversee recruitment and onboarding for your product family and ensure teams have the right skills.
• Co-create an inclusive, high-performance culture that enables people to do their best work.
• Contribute to design and development of complex applications and modify existing ones.

• Deliver high quality products on time within budget and standards.
