Job summary

The First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB) is a national not-for-profit organization that strengthens governance and financial practices for First Nations communities. This role supports FRAP delivery, builds client relationships, and drives FAL and FMS readiness through remote accounting and training initiatives.

You will partner with the Senior Financial Officer to develop training plans, design remote service schedules, and help clients achieve FMS certification.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• CPA designation or progress towards CPA is an asset.
• At least 5 years in financial services including reporting, funding agreements, and internal controls.
• Experience with Microsoft Office; Sage 300 is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial governance.
• Understanding, awareness and appreciation of Indigenous culture and history; willingness to ongoing education.
• Fluent in English; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of FRAP to help First Nations address overdue financial reporting and audit requirements.
• Develop relationships with clients with approved Financial Administration Law.
• Build trust to implement FAL and prepare for FMS certification.
• Conduct the FMS Support Services needs assessment and identify opportunities for remote accounting and training opportunities.
• With the Senior Financial Officer, develop a training plan.
• Develop a remote accounting service schedule based on readiness assessment.
• Support First Nation FAL clients to achieve FMS certification via remote accounting services, training, and capacity development.
• Complete any other tasks as requested by FMS Support Services management team.
