Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Chief Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) for a leading global mining company. This executive role oversees HSEQ management remotely, driving zero-harm safety culture across all operations and ensuring compliance with international standards.

The CHSO will develop policy, lead risk assessments, manage safety programs, and report to the board, leveraging 10+ years of mining safety leadership to shape safety practice at scale.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of health and safety management experience, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Proven experience implementing robust HSEQ systems (ISO 45001).
• Strong knowledge of mining safety regulations and best practices.
• Experience leading safety programs in distributed remote environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the organization's health and safety strategy and policies.
• Ensure compliance with national and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Oversee risk assessment processes with effective controls and mitigation.
• Promote safety culture through training and communications.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and report to senior management and board.
• Manage HSEQ budget and resources.
