A leading healthcare provider in British Columbia seeks a Remote Certified Primary Care Nurse to deliver patient care in remote communities. The Remote Certified Primary Care Nurse practices autonomously, utilizing an extended scope of practice defined by regulatory guidance, including provincial legislation, BC College of Nurses and Midwives standards, Island Health policies, and individual nurse competencies.
This role involves working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing direct patient care and participating in health promotion activities for individuals and groups in remote communities. The care approach must be community and culturally sensitive, focusing on maintaining or improving health through disease prevention, chronic disease management, and acute care across the lifespan. Responsibilities include emergency assessment, treatment, palliative care, health status assessment, and coordination of health services.
Travel may be required, and transportation arrangements must meet Island Health operational requirements, potentially including the use of a personal vehicle.
