A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Remote Certified Primary Care Nurse to deliver patient care in remote communities. The role requires independent practice and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, focusing on culturally sensitive care and health promotion. The Remote Certified Primary Care Nurse practices autonomously, utilizing an extended scope of practice defined by various regulatory guidelines, including provincial legislation, BC College of Nurses and Midwives scope of practice, standards, and code of ethics; Nurse and Nurse Practitioners of BC decision support tools; Island Health policies, procedures, and guidelines; and individual nurse competencies.
This role involves working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing direct patient care and participating in health promotion activities for groups and individuals in remote communities. The care approach must be community and culturally sensitive, client-focused, aiming to maintain or improve health. It encompasses disease prevention, chronic disease management, and acute care across the lifespan, including emergency assessment, treatment, palliation, health status assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation of interventions, and coordination of health services.
Travel may be required, and transportation arrangements must meet Island Health operational requirements, potentially including the use of a personal vehicle.
