Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a hands-on mid-level backend engineer within Information Security to help build authentication services powering registration, login, and account lifecycle across B2C and B2B experiences.

You will work with Python or Kotlin to implement secure features and collaborate with experienced engineers and partner teams. You will integrate with identity technologies such as Okta, Auth0, and ForgeRock, write tests, participate in code reviews, and deploy to production with team

Qualifications

• Proven ability to write, test, and debug software in Python or Kotlin.
• Foundational backend development knowledge: APIs, data structures, databases, version control.
• Curiosity about authentication; CIAM experience a plus, not required.
• Strong problem-solving, willingness to learn through mentorship and code reviews.
• Clear communication and collaboration across engineering, product, and security.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship customer-facing authentication features—from smoother login experiences to MFA and device binding.
• Develop backend services and APIs in Python or Kotlin, turning product requirements into working software.
• Work with identity technologies (Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock) to connect identity capabilities to web, mobile, and partner apps.
• Take scoped features through the software development lifecycle: design, write code, write tests, code reviews, production deployment.
• Debug services, improve reliability, and use logs and metrics to understand production behavior.
• Collaborate with engineering and product to learn secure development and grow expertise in authentication.
