Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is hiring a hands-on mid‑engineer in Information Security to help build and maintain backend services powering registration, login, authorization, and account lifecycles across B2C and B2B experiences.

You’ll work with experienced engineers and partner teams to deliver secure, scalable identity features. The role emphasizes modern identity technologies (Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock) and secure development practices, with remote‑first flexibility and location‑based compensation.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to write, test, and debug software in Python, Kotlin, or similar language.
• Backend development fundamentals: APIs, data structures, databases, version control.
• Interest in authentication and CIAM security principles; familiarity with identity tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship backend authentication features (e.g., login, MFA, device binding) with secure, scalable design.
• Develop backend services and APIs in Python or Kotlin based on product requirements.
• Integrate identity technologies (Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock) with web, mobile, and partner apps.
• Follow SDLC: design, write tests, conduct reviews, and deploy to production with team support.
• Improve reliability using logs and metrics to understand production behavior.
• Collaborate with security, product, and engineering teams to enhance authentication experiences.
