Job summary

Affirm is hiring a Software Engineer II in Canada (Ontario) for backend API work and scalable systems. You will design, develop and launch APIs using Python or Kotlin, with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes powering the stack.

You will break down projects with the team, collaborate with product, design and analytics, and help keep systems reliable through metrics and on-call support. Strong ownership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems.
• Proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Ability to own your work and communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into tasks and deliver in phases.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics during ideation and decisions.
• Support operations and availability of artifacts; monitor metrics and on-call efforts.
