Job summary

Good Shepherd’s Men's Centre in Hamilton is seeking a compassionate, part-time shelter worker. You will provide direct client support, help develop personalized plans, and manage caseloads with a trauma-informed, anti-racist approach.

Qualifications

• A post-secondary education in a social service/related field or lived experience working with vulnerable individuals.
• Good knowledge of social service agencies and community resources.
• Strong understanding of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and anti-oppressive practice.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills and organization.

Responsibilities

• Direct client contact in all aspects of service necessary for comfort and safety in shelter.
• Carry own caseload and work within a client-centered perspective.
• Support development of personalized counseling plans and maintain caseload.
• Observe health and safety rules and comply with Health and Safety Act.
