Unit Summary

The CIBC Breast Assessment Centre (BAC) is a multidisciplinary organized breast assessment centre bringing together expertise in radiology, pathology, surgery, medical radiation technology, ultrasound, nursing, and genetic counseling. The CIBC BAC provides rapid diagnostic evaluation to women who are symptomatic and/or have a screen-detected abnormality, ensuring timely navigation to surgical or medical treatment. It also supports radiological procedures for breast surgery.

Position Summary

As a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Technologist performs and assesses mammographic images to produce high-quality diagnostic images. Participates in planning and organizing patient activities related to breast screening and diagnostic assessment. Provides optimal patient care and demonstrates professionalism. Assists in related activities as needed.

Schedule Work Hours

Days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. This position is temporary until August 2026.

Qualifications
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Successful completion of CAMRT Mammography I and II or in the process of acquiring it.
  • Certificate of Breast Imaging (CBI) required or in process of acquisition within an agreed timeframe.
  • Minimum of 5 years recent experience as a Mammographer, supporting complex procedures including stereotactic biopsies, needle localization, radioactive seed placement, and protocol exams.
  • Knowledge of practice standards and guidelines by CAMRT and relevant professional bodies.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Association of Radiologists Mammography Accreditation Program (MAP).
  • Effective communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work responsibly in a team, managing stress and conflicts professionally.
  • Ability to effectively interact with clients, families, coworkers, physicians, and staff.
  • Participation in ongoing education and professional development.
  • Certification with Ontario Breast Screening Program.
  • Current membership in CAMRT/OAMRS preferred.
  • Commitment to departmental goals and objectives.
