Job summary

WeeCare Pediatric Home Health Care in Toronto, ON is seeking a Part-Time Registered Practical Nurse to provide compassionate pediatric care in school and home settings.

The role includes G/GJ tube care, seizure care, medication administration, and supporting daily living activities, with shifts Wednesdays to Fridays 08:00-16:00 and Saturday home shifts available.

Qualifications

• Licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing.
• Experience providing pediatric nursing care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the past 6 months.
• Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) coverage.

Responsibilities

• Provide G/GJ tube care and management.
• Provide seizure care and management.
• Administer medications and document per CNO standards.
• Monitor and safeguard medications and narcotics.
• Maintain child records and required documentation per CNO standards.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living.
• Observe and report changes to parent/guardian and WeeCare.

Position

Part-Time Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse in Toronto, ON.

Schedule

• Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 08:00-16:00
• Saturday home shifts also available

General Duties (specific duties may vary based on individual client needs)

• Provide G/GJ tube care and management
• Provide seizure care and management
• Administer and document medications as prescribed, in accordance with CNO medication administration standards
• Monitor and ensure the safekeeping of medications and narcotics
• Maintain the child's records and required documentation in accordance with CNO standards
• Assist the child with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living
• Observe and report changes in the child's condition to the parent/guardian and WeeCare
• Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transfers, and use of adaptive aids
• Demonstrate understanding of the child's needs and support the child in maximizing their abilities
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to the child and family
• Respond to child and family concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up
• Assist in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment, including the child's equipment and belongings
• Notify the supervisor of any concerns related to the child's safety, incidents, or accidents
• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Experience working with pediatric clients
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the past 6 months
• Professional Liability Insurance (PLI)
