Job summary

WeeCare is seeking a Full-time Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse to provide in-home nursing support in Barrie, ON. You will deliver care per plan, offer reassurance to families, and integrate into the child’s daily routines to promote safety and comfort.

The role requires pediatric experience, CNO licensure in good standing, BLS, and a current VSC. Evening/night shifts are part of the schedule, with flexible week-to-week planning.

Qualifications

Licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing.
Experience caring for pediatric clients.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) within the past 6 months.
Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) active.

Responsibilities

Provide pediatric care in home settings according to care plans.
Administer and document medications per CNO standards.
Monitor and safeguard medications and narcotics.
Maintain child records per CNO standards.
Assist with personal care, hygiene, and daily living activities.
Observe and report changes to parent/guardian and WeeCare.
Assist with mobility, transfers, and use of adaptive aids.
Support cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological wellbeing.

Position

Full-time Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse in Barrie, ON.

Schedule

Three shifts per week, 19:00–08:00 (days vary based on scheduling needs).

Please note:To be considered for this position, applicants must be able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule.

General Duties (specific duties may vary based on individual client needs)

Provide G/GJ tube care and management
Administer and document medications as prescribed, in accordance with CNO medication administration standards
Monitor and ensure the safekeeping of medications and narcotics
Maintain the child's records and required documentation in accordance with CNO standards
Assist the child with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living
Observe and report changes in the child's condition to the parent/guardian and WeeCare
Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transfers, and use of adaptive aids
Demonstrate understanding of the child’s needs and support the child in maximizing their abilities
Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to the child and family
Respond to child and family concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up
Assist in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment, including the child’s equipment and belongings
Notify the supervisor of any concerns related to the child’s safety, incidents, or accidents
Complete other duties as assigned
