Bruce County seeks a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for part-time work at Brucelea Haven in Walkerton, Ontario. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating resident care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in line with established standards.

The ideal candidate holds a current CNO certificate with annual license renewal, has long-term care experience or leadership, and possesses CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario with annual licensing renewal.
  • One year of health care experience, preferably in long-term care with demonstrated leadership.
  • Post-RPN education and experience in gerontology preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to work with others in a team approach.
  • Physically able to perform assigned duties with a flexible schedule.
  • Genuine interest in the well-being of the elderly.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check completed and clear.

What You'll Do

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is responsible to assess, plan, implement and evaluate assigned resident care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team according to established standards, policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience

  • Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario with annual mandatory licensing renewal
  • One year previous working experience in health care, preferably in a long term care setting with demonstrated leadership skills
  • Post- RPN education and experience in gerontology or related field, preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Current CPR certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing resident-focused care
  • Ability to work with others in a team approach
  • Physically able to perform assigned duties within a flexible work schedule
  • Genuine interest in the well‑being of the elderly
  • Demonstrated patience, adaptability and flexibility
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet and maintain health requirements as per Long Term Care Legislation
  • Clean Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check

Brucelea Haven has been approved for the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) funding. Successful candidates for this position may be eligible for up to $25,000 in funding! This position is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the collective agreement between UNIFOR and the County of Bruce.
