Job summary

Bruce County is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care to residents, collaborating with families and the care team within their scope of practice. The role includes leadership of the nursing division and guiding research, education, and quality initiatives.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s in Nursing/Geriatrics, an active NP certificate in good standing, and at least 3 years of NP experience with supervisory exposure in geriatric or long‑term care settings.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with studies in Nursing and/or Geriatrics.
  • Current Certificate of Competence in good standing as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • 3 years of previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • 1 year of previous supervisory experience in geriatric, rehabilitation, or long‑term care facilities.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a primary care provider to residents and works within their legislative scope of practice as described and outlined by the College of Nurses Ontario. The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with the resident and family/caregiver, along with the health care team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the resident’s plan of care. This position also provides leadership and mentorship to the LTCH staff and leads and collaborates with research, education, and evidence‑based practice initiatives. This role is responsible for directing and maintaining the highest standard in delivering excellent resident‑focused care as required by the Ministry of Long‑Term Care. The incumbent’s responsibilities include supporting and leading the nursing division and recommending improvements to efficient utilization of human and physical resources. The incumbent will ensure that continuous quality improvement outcomes approved for the division are met or exceeded, and demonstrate dedication to professional values and the mission, vision, and values of long‑term care.

What We’re Looking For
  • Education:
    • Master’s degree with studies in Nursing and/or Geriatrics
    • Current Certificate of Competence in good standing as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Nurses of Ontario
    • 3 years of previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner
    • 1 year of previous experience in a supervisory role in geriatric, rehabilitation, or long‑term care facilities
