Wage: $ 35.16 - $36.37

As a member of an inter-professional team and working under full scope of practice, the role of the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) at Providence Care Hospital is to deliver safe, effective, patient centred care to assigned patients in a non-acute setting as outlined by hospital policies and procedures and the Standards of Nursing Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario. The RPN will assist patients and their caregivers to manage clinical conditions and transitions and enhance quality of life by meeting the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of each person.

Skills And Qualifications Required

  • Active, unrestricted license to practice with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current CPR certificate
  • College certificate required, diploma preferred
  • Medication Certificate dated after 1985 which meets the requirements of the Ontario College of
  • Nurses, if graduated before 1985

Position Responsibilities

  • Accountable for his/her decisions and actions even when acting interdependently in collaboration with other members of the health care team
  • Supports the organization in addressing ethical issues within nursing and the organization
  • Acts as a role model for the profession and for other Registered Practical Nurses and RPN student nurses, and is committed to the values of the nursing profession and to the mission, vision and values of Providence Care
  • Works collaboratively with fellow co-workers and the leadership team toward the achievement of the Providence Care’s overall goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates competencies and skills that are essential for the delivery of safe and effective patient care
  • Assists in evaluating the health status of patients with complexity of care needs that are well defined and established, with predictable outcomes and manageable responses and provides direct care
  • Shares in establishing priorities for care including preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative aspects
