AgeCare is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to deliver professional nursing care to residents in a geriatric/long-term care setting. The nurse will work under the direction of the RN and supervise Personal Support Workers to ensure high-quality care.

The role requires knowledge of relevant acts and standards. A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and good standing are required.

Qualifications

• Requires sound knowledge in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing, including activation and personnel administration.
• Familiarity with relevant Canadian acts and standards impacting nursing home operations.
• Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and good standing.

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the RN, implements AgeCare policies and procedures on the unit.
• Liaises with physicians and health care team; notifies physician of significant changes if RN is absent.
• Collaborates with health care team to meet residents’ care needs.
• Provides direction to Personal Support Workers on the care team.
• Participates in shift reports ensuring all team members are informed of status changes.
