Job summary

AgeCare seeks a Registered Practical Nurse to provide professional nursing care for residents on the unit, in collaboration with the RN. The RPN will supervise Personal Support Workers and support policy implementation across the home, ensuring care needs are met and resident status changes are communicated promptly.

Requirements include geriatric/long-term care nursing experience, knowledge of relevant acts and a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, with

Qualifications

• A sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration.
• Knowledge of applicable Canadian health acts and regulations affecting long-term care operations.
• A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and a member in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to implement policies and procedures on the unit.
• Provide input into revision of procedures within the residence and unit.
• Liaise with physicians and other health care team members including external partners.
• Notify physician of significant changes in resident status in the RN's absence.
• Direct Personal Support Workers to meet residents' care needs.
• Participate in shift report to inform team of changes in resident status.
