Job summary

Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Site is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join the Critical Care team on a full-time temporary basis, reporting to the Manager of Critical Care. The RPN will work in a collaborative inter-disciplinary environment to provide care to patients with stable and predictable outcomes.

You must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, be in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses, and hold BLS; ACLS and coronary care courses or

• Graduate of an accredited college nursing program.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS certification or willingness to complete within 12 months of hire.
• Two years recent acute care nursing experience.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care, Owen Sound Site, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) works collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary team to provide care to those patients with a stable and predictable outcome. The RPN demonstrates professional development and clinical competency, utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, addresses health educational needs for patients and families, and other health care providers, manages patient care assignments as well as other organizational tasks related to patient unit operations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited college nursing program
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Successful completion of a Basic Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation course or willingness to complete within three months of hire
• Successful completion of Coronary Care 1 course or willingness to complete within six months of hire
• Successful completion of Coronary Care 2 course or willingness to complete within 12 months of hire
• ACLS certification or willingness to complete within 12 months of hire
• Brightshores Code Blue course (annually)
• Two years recent acute care nursing experience
• Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
