Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC. This is a Relief Part Time (0.50) role with night shifts, offering opportunities for professional growth within a dynamic, high-acuity environment.

You will join an interdisciplinary team, delivering high-quality care, supporting essential patient and family needs, and participating in ongoing practice improvements and research initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Advanced preparation in Emergency nursing or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • CPR within 3 years.
  • BCLS within 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to emergency patients, independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Collaborates with other health care providers to improve patient and family quality of life.
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence-based practice in nursing.
  • Maintains and advances own clinical competence.
  • Participates on hospital committees/teams and approved research projects.

This is a Relief Part Time (0.50) opportunity until February 17, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled nights 19:00 to 07:00 hours.

About this location/unit:

EKRH is located in Cranbrook, British Columbia where we provide hospital services to residents of the East Kootenay Health Service Area and care for over 80,000 patients a year. Our Emergency Department has a 16 bed ED including a Trauma room. Patients in the ED have CTAS scores from 1-5 and our patients range from walking wounded to trauma, pediatrics and psychiatric. Our ED works in conjunction with the High Acuity Response Team and outlying facilities in both receiving and transferring patients. We have a helicopter pad on site with frequent transfers with STARS (Alberta Flight).

Qualfications
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area as required by the position:
  • o Emergency – Advanced preparation in an ED clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • o Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years
  • o Combined Critical Care/Emergency – Advanced preparation in a critical care clinical specialty and 2 years related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • o Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 years
