Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department at Nicola Valley Health Centre in Merritt, BC. This is a permanent part-time position (0.74). Shifts rotate days and nights from 07:00–19:15 and 19:00–07:15, providing dynamic and varied coverage.

The Nicola Valley ER is an 11-bed unit that sees 50–60 patients daily, offering a collaborative team environment with opportunities for education and professional growth within Interior Health.

Qualifications

  • Licensed RN with active BC College of Nurses and Midwives registration.
  • Emergency/ED nursing training or experience preferred.
  • CPR certification within 3 years.
  • BCLS certification within 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to emergency patients independently and as part of a care team.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care providers to plan and implement care.
  • Maintain and advance clinical competence; participate in committees/approved projects.
  • Apply evidence-based nursing practices and contribute to quality improvement.

About this location/unit

The Nicola Valley Health Centre has an 11 bed ER and sees 50-60 patients a day. The Emergency department is open 24/7 with 2 RNs in the ER.

Qualfications
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area as required by the position:
    • Emergency – Advanced preparation in an ED clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years
    • Combined Critical Care/Emergency – Advanced preparation in a critical care clinical specialty and 2 years related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 years
