Qualifications

• Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of Emergency Nursing.
• Experience in critical care clinical specialty preferred.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years
• Combined Critical Care/Emergency – Advanced preparation in a critical care clinical specialty and 2 years related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 years

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to emergency patients independently and in a team.
• Enhance quality of life for the patient and family.
• Participate on hospital committees and research projects as assigned.
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

The Registered Nurse:

• Provides nursing care to emergency patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
• Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

This is a Permanent Part Time (0.76) opportunity.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights rotating from 07:00 to 19:15, 19:00 to 07:15 hours.

About this location/unit

The Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital is a Level 1 Community Hospital, and we offer services including surgical, inpatient and emergency. We have 6 acute care beds with a small 24-hour emergency department that includes 4 bays and 1 trauma bay. As part of our cohesive team of healthcare professionals, you will work hand in hand with local physicians and LPNs, to deliver patient centred care!

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area as required by the position:
  • Emergency – Advanced preparation in an ED clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years
  • Combined Critical Care/Emergency – Advanced preparation in a critical care clinical specialty and 2 years related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 years
