Job summary

Covenant Health Canada is seeking an Operating Room nurse for Banff Mineral Springs Hospital in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. You will join a dynamic Surgical Services- OR/PACU team delivering high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.

The RN assesses, plans, administers medications, and supports discharge planning while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Active CRNA registration and BCLS-HCP are required; perioperative training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program with CRNA registration in Alberta.
• Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and BCLS-HCP.
• Completion of a recognized perioperative program and ability to wear lead for long hours.

Responsibilities

• Participate in nursing assessments and interventions and care planning.
• Administer medications, evaluate treatments and monitor patient progress.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team and document patient response.
• Provide education and discharge planning; may act as charge nurse as needed.

Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications

Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the college of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support- Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Completion of a recognized perioperative program. Must be able to wear lead for many hours. Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours supporting the surgical team.

Preferred Qualifications

Recent 2 yrs experience in an OR within the last 5 yrs. Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Recent recovery room experience within the last 5 yrs. Canadian Perioperative Nurse Certification. Experience in Orthopedics OR.
