Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse for Canmore General Hospital. The RN will deliver a wide range of nursing services across the life span, applying the nursing process, critical thinking and patient-family centered care.

Provisional permits are paid at a starting rate, with adjustments upon full practice permit, in Canmore, AB. You will join a team in Acute Care, Obstetrics, and Emergency units, with a 0.70 FTE schedule, 11.08 hour shifts, and a mix of days and nights.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the CRNA.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• Current ACLS, NRP, and CTAS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of ER and acute care experience.
• Minimum 2 years of OB experience.
• Preferred: TNCC and ENPC certifications.
• Charge RN experience; Fetal Health Surveillance certification; OTAS; N95 fit testing.

Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to provide care to patients across the life span. The RN ensures the development, implementation, and ongoing administration of patient care plans. Patient population varies from emergency care, pre- and post-operative, pediatric, seniors, palliative, labour and delivery and postpartum. The RN demonstrates the ability to accurately and effectively assess patient status and to take appropriate intervention measures that have significant impact on the patient’s medical condition, safety, as well as ultimate recovery. The RN accepts responsibility for continuing competencies through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs, research, and continuous quality improvement activities. The RN must follow nursing standards/protocols as required in the area of nursing specialty related to the job assignment. Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Ability to work within a team environment and to effectively contribute to client care planning processes and improvement in service delivery. The RN position required physical demands to include lifting, pulling and pushing, walking, standing, transferring and transporting clients and equipment up to a frequent basis.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current certification in ACLS, NRP, and CTAS. Minimum 2 years of recent ER and acute care experience. Minimum 2 years of recent OB experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in TNCC and ENPC. Charge RN experience. Current Fetal Health Surveillance certification. Ability to work in maternity triage. Certification in Obstetrical Triage & Acuity Scale (OTAS). N95 Fit testing. Experience in a day surgery unit and experience with post procedural sedation and anesthesia.
