Your Opportunity:

5W is a combined medicine/orthopedic surgical unit. We are recruiting a Registered Nurse who will work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality, patient/family centered care to a variety of patients with complex and diverse care needs. The RN will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teaching, counseling, and advocating on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, and the provision of safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years recent (within the last 3 years) adult acute medical and/or surgical nursing experience is required.
• A strong understanding of COACT principles.
• Demonstrated ability to work and lead in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and families in stressful situations.
• Strong clinical and assessment skills necessary (Patient assessment, IV certified, CVC/PICC certified, Foley insertion, and Glucometer certified, etc.).
• Must have excellent interpersonal communication, effective time management, and organizational skills required to work with the multidisciplinary team.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced department that is variable, unpredictable, and has competing priorities.
• Strong conflict resolution skills are necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with all members of the healthcare team and with patients and family members.
• Ability to lift and turn patients safely using appropriate techniques and equipment (IYM).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous acute care, medicine, surgical or emergency nursing experience.
