Job summary

The Grey Nuns Community Hospital – Operating Room, operated by Covenant Health Canada, seeks an Operating Room Technician to join a busy perioperative team in Edmonton. You will work in both scrub and circulating roles, delivering high-quality patient care within a multidisciplinary surgical setting and contributing to planning and execution of procedures.

Preferred candidates have perioperative nursing training for LPNs, a current Alberta license, and strong interpersonal and organizational

Qualifications

  • Must be registered with and hold a valid practice permit from College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) prior to commencing employment.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Responsibilities

  • Integral member of the patient care team functioning in scrub and circulating roles.
  • Contributes to the assessment, planning and implementation of patient care in the surgical setting in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

The successful incumbent will be an integral member of the patient care team functioning in the scrub and circulating roles. The ORT works to their full scope of practice, contributing to the assessment, planning and implementation of patient care in the surgical setting; in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be registered with and hold a valid practice permit from College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) prior to commencing employment.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Perioperative Nursing program for LPNs required.
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs and have the physical ability to push, pull, bend, and stand for prolonged periods of time (in excess of 30 minutes).
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills both spoken and written.
  • Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent assessment and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years recent (within the last 3 years) operating room experience.
  • Computer skills including experience with electronic charting.
  • Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized and rapid moving environment.
