Job summary

The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance is seeking a Registered Nurse for a temporary, part-time position based in Listowel, Ontario. The RN will support the Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital across regions Huron and Perth, providing high-quality care in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the care team, administering medications, and performing nursing assessments with a patient- and family-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with CNO in Ontario.
• Degree/diploma in nursing (BScN preferred).
• Experience with Cerner EHR and acute care settings.

The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners. The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.

Position: Registered Nurse, Multi-Unit (Home Base ED)

Region: Huron and Perth

Description

The Registered Nurse promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with patients, physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members. This is a temporary, part-time position that is anticipated to begin on January 4, 2027 and extend through March 31, 2027. The successful candidate will have the ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Ability to organize, problem solve, critical thinking and decision making.
• Demonstrated application of role in Code situation (ex. Code Blue).
• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, staff and community partners.
• Observing and recording patient behavior. Evaluates patient outcomes.
• Competent operation of medical equipment.
• Performing diagnostic tests within scope of practice.
• Safely Administering medications and treatments.

Qualifications

• Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Diploma/Degree from a recognized College/University, BScN preferred
• Specialized certifications and courses related to area of specialization as required
• BCLS, ACLS and NRP Certification
• PALS/ENCP Certification
• TNCC/ATLS and CTAS Course
• Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias Certification, Defibrillation Certification
• 15 Lead ECG Interpretation Certification
• Critical Care Course preferred
• CNA Emergency Nursing Certification preferred
• Maternal Newborn Course preferred
• Two years related nursing experience working in acute care setting preferred
• Working knowledge of Cerner software computer applications information system and related peripheral hardware preferred
• High degree of physical effort
• High degree of mental effort and analysis
