Job summary

The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance in Wingham, Ontario, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Multi-Unit, Inpatient and Emergency department on a temporary full-time DDNN Float Line with home base in the ED.

Registration with CNO is required; Diploma/Degree and preferably a BScN are expected. Numerous certifications (BCLS/ACLS/NRP, PALS/ENCP, ECG, TNCC/ATLS) and two years of acute care experience are preferred. Cerner knowledge is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Diploma/Degree from a recognized College/University; BScN preferred.
  • BCLS, ACLS and NRP Certification.
  • PALS/ENCP Certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias Certification and Defibrillator Certification.
  • 15 Lead ECG Interpretation Certification.
  • TNCC / ATLS, CTAS Course.
  • Palliative Care Education and Critical Care Course preferred.
  • CAN Gerontology, Med/Surg and/or Cardiovascular Certification preferred.
  • Two years related nursing experience in acute care preferred.
  • Cerner software experience or knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, problem solve, and exercise critical thinking.
  • Respond to Code situations (Code Blue) and coordinate care.
  • Communicate with patients, families, physicians, staff and community partners.
  • Observe and document patient behavior and outcomes.
  • Operate medical equipment competently and safely.
  • Perform diagnostic tests within scope of practice.
  • Safely administer medications and treatments.

We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.

  • Rehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology
  • Multiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local service

SALARY RANGE: As per ONA Salary Scale POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
