Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care unit, focusing on assessment and treatment of critically ill adults (and occasional children) to restore and maintain optimal function.

Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, you will work in a fast-paced environment, require current OCN registration, 3 years of CC experience, and active ACLS/PALS/BCLS credentials, with commitment to patient safety and continuous professional

Qualifications

• Ontario College of Nurses registration is required.
• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience.
• Critical Care Certificate.
• Current BCLS.
• Current ACLS.
• Current PALS or willingness to obtain within one year of hire.
• Demonstrates critical thinking in emergencies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Promote health and assess provision of care for critically ill adults (and occasional children) during the critical phase.
• Provide supportive, preventive, therapeutic care to improve function.
• Collaborate with physicians, managers, and Respiratory Therapy for patient care.
• Participate in unit meetings and contribute to safety and quality initiatives.
• Maintain ongoing professional development and keep certifications up to date.

WAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, the registered nurse focuses on the promotion of health and the assessment of the provision of care of and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic means to critical ill adults and occasionally children, during the critical phase of their illness in order that the client may return to, attain, or maintain optimal function.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Ontario College of Nurses registration
• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience
• Critical Care Certificate
• Current BCLS
• Current ACLS
• Current PALS or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
• Demonstrates an ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations
• Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
• Ongoing participation with College of Nurses Reflective Practice
• Willingness to routinely participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects
• Completion of all unit specific certifications and Delegated Medical Acts or willingness to do so within allotted time frame

• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
