The Clinical Care Program seeks a part-time, permanent Registered Nurse for the Crisis Critical Care Unit 4. This role offers an exciting professional opportunity with an emphasis on treating concurrent disorders and engaging patients in therapeutic programming, along with opportunities for capacity building and skill development.

As part of an inter-professional team, you will:

  • Provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care for diverse populations.
  • Perform assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Use critical thinking and customer service skills in care delivery.
  • Ensure safety and security of the inpatient unit, adhering to professional standards and policies.
  • Coordinate care with other CAMH services and community agencies.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and provide education and support to students.
  • Engage in clinical research activities.

The ideal candidate:

  • Can make behavioral observations, conduct assessments, and monitor responses to interventions.
  • Has knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, severe mental illness, addiction issues, recovery approaches, culturally competent, trauma-informed care, and group facilitation.
  • Can effectively intervene in situations involving disturbed behavior.
  • Supports a diverse, collaborative, and regulatory-compliant workplace.

This position involves day, evening, night, and weekend rotations at 1001 Queen Street West.

Requirements include membership in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate, and preferably a BScN and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential. Experience with mental health and addiction clients and bilingual proficiency are assets.

This is a part-time, permanent position with a 0.45 FTE commitment, subject to change per the Collective Agreement. Additional hours may be available based on operational needs. The role is part of the ONA Bargaining Unit.
