The Acute Care Program is seeking a full-time, temporary (until September 23, 2026) Registered Nurse to work in COMPASS (Concurrent Outpatient Medical Psychosocial Addiction Support Service). COMPASS provides assessment and treatment for individuals with substance use and concurrent mental health concerns, including medical and non-medical interventions within the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic (RAAM), Fit-In Clinic, outpatient withdrawal management (day detox), and larger programs.
In this role, you will conduct assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary treatment plans, liaising with other services, community agencies, and practitioners to coordinate care efficiently and safely.
You will provide client-centered psychiatric, addiction, and general nursing care, ensuring safety within the care environment. You will practice according to CNO standards, CAMH policies, and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice (CFMHN). As part of the interprofessional team, you may offer individual and group therapeutic interventions, participate in interdisciplinary collaboration, and support research activities. You should be skilled in behavioral observations, mental and physical assessments, monitoring responses to interventions, and documentation. Knowledge of pain management, crisis intervention, addiction nursing, and trauma-informed care is essential.
Qualifications include registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate, and at least two years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric/mental health and addiction medicine. A B.Sc.N or CNA certification is preferred. Effective communication, interpersonal, leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. The position is located at the Queen Street Site.
