Job summary

The Ottawa Hospital is a major, multi-campus Canadian health care provider with base at the Riverside Campus. This corporate nursing position operates on days, 8-hour shifts and requires a College of Nurses of Ontario certificate, an OR course or OR experience in the last five years, BCLS, and eligibility to work in Canada.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, prior ophthalmic operating room experience, and advanced English/French language skills.

Qualifications

• Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Post graduate operating room course or 3 months OR experience in acute care within last 5 years.
• Current BCLS.
• Ability to work effectively as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent interviewing and interpersonal skills.
• Desire to participate in staff and patient/family teaching.
• Professional and respectful attitude to patients and colleagues.
• Self-directed with critical decision-making.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Position Information

This is a Corporate position with base at the Riverside Campus.

Rotation/Shifts

Days, 8 hours shifts.

Basic Requirements

• Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
• Post graduate operating room course completed; OR Three (3) months of experience in an acute care operating room within the last five (5) years;
• Current BCLS;

Preferred Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing;
• Current experience in a busy ophthalmic Operating Room setting;
• Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced).
