Alberta Health Services is seeking experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses for Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. You will deliver holistic perioperative care, lead within an integrated team, and support a broad range of surgical specialties including urology, orthopedics, ENT, and gynecology.

Regular Part Time roles with 0.79 FTE and variable shifts are available, with a focus on patient safety, professional practice standards, and ongoing skill development in a dynamic OR environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must have Accredited Post-Basic Peri-operative certification. Must work days, evenings, weekends, on-call and arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes when called back to work. Preference will be given to candidates in the following order - candidates with recent relevant OR experience followed by candidates who have completed an accredited post-basic peri-operative course followed by candidates enrolled in an accredited post-basic peri-operative course.Demonstrated knowledge of commonly encountered disease entities, associated nursing diagnoses/problem statement, effects of medical and surgical interventions, and concomitant nursing interventions required.Experience with application of professional knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills, and clinical judgment in the delivery of professional nursing.Adherence to nursing policy, practice standards and Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics.Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others and accept change.Ability to identify own strengths and weaknesses and showing initiative for improvement.Ability to handle heavy or awkward items (lifting, transferring, carrying), and withstand considerable walking or standing.Ability to be physically confined to an area due to job demands.Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing CPN. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
