Job Summary & Requirements

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) serves the community of Simcoe County and provides highly specialized services including but not limited to: Stroke, Cardiac, Oncology, Neonatal Intensive Care, Adult & Youth Mental Health, and has been recently designated as a Level III Trauma Centre. We also serve our local community for emergency care services that sees approximately 90,000 unique patient visits per year.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will function interdependently and collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team, including but not limited to: Physicians, Registered Practical Nurses, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Geriatric Registered Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, and Phlebotomists. As the RN, you assess the needs of adult and pediatric patients requiring care in the Emergency Department, while ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You are a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and standards of care of RVH, the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), and all relevant legislation.

Minimum Requirements

As a qualified candidate, you will need to have the following job requirements:

  1. Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario and function within limitations and standards as established by the College of Nurses.
  2. Coronary Care Level 1 preferred.
  3. Demonstrated competency in Arrhythmia interpretation.
  4. Completion of ENCC or Emergency nursing certificate is considered an asset.
  5. Participation in RNAO/ ENAO/ ENA preferred.
  6. Two (2) years’ experience in emergency or acute medical/surgical nursing preferred.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to the concepts of Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service.

  9. Uses the Emergency Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate Emergency patients.
  10. Must be able to perform all essential duties of position description, which may include the ability to lift and move patients, pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping.
  11. Function within the Health and Safety guidelines providing a safe and supportive environment for all patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers.
