The Registered Practical Nurse provides person-centered care as a member of the interdisciplinary team in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice, and the Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario. The role involves providing professional nursing care to residents, supervising care provided by healthcare staff, and ensuring quality, person-focused healthcare that complies with the Fixing Long Term Care Act standards and aligns with Providence Care Centre's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Skills and Qualifications Required
  • Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario (including Medication Administration).
  • Current CPR certification.
Position Responsibilities
  • Performs responsibilities within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in applicable Provincial and Municipal Acts and the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice.
  • Ensures compliance with standards of nursing practice and best practice guidelines.
  • Collaborates with team members to provide comprehensive care for residents, including regular assessments and development, update, and evaluation of care plans, seeking guidance as needed.
  • Participates in all aspects of resident care to meet physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs, while maintaining resident safety.
  • Utilizes therapeutic communication to establish working relationships with residents, families, and co-workers, respecting dignity and individuality.
  • Supports positive team dynamics through effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Acts as a team leader, liaising between care team members and Registered Nurses, delivering and directing care that promotes resident and family choices, acknowledges resident strengths and limitations, and ensures safety for all.
