Job summary

Comfort Keepers in Victoria, BC is seeking a Registered Care Aide to support seniors in the Greater Victoria area. You will assist with daily care, observe changes, and collaborate with a health care team to promote independence in ADLs and IADLs.

The role requires Graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program (or equivalent), a BC Registry Number, a valid driver’s license, and a reliable vehicle. Training and travel across island communities may be involved.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized Health Care Assistant program or equivalent.
• Have or be able to obtain a criminal record check.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle; ability to commute.
• Physical ability to perform caregiving duties.
• Ability to organize work and coordinate with health care team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivery of client care and home support under the health care team.
• Observe, and report significant changes in the client’s presentation.
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and their caregivers to maximize independence with ADLs/IADLs.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting.
• Assist with household tasks including meal prep, shopping, laundry.

• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
• Drive client in their vehicle to appointments and outings.

As a Caregiveryou will make a difference in your clients lives by:

• Assisting in the delivery of client care and home support services under the direction of the health care team.

• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
• Driving client in their vehicle to appointments and outings

Job Requirements:

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number.
• Have or be able to get a criminal record check
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Valid driver’s license anda reliable vehicle, willing to commute is a must
• First Aid/CPR certificate

Our office serves seniors across the island and surrounding communities, including Sidney, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, James Bay, Esquimalt & Westshore. This position may require travel to those areas .
