Job summary

Comfort Keepers is seeking compassionate, dependable caregivers to provide in-home companionship, light housekeeping, and support to seniors and others in their own homes. You will follow each client’s Plan of Care, promoting safety, comfort, and independence.

Positions involve non-medical care, emotional support, and flexible scheduling. CPR & First Aid certification and reliable transportation are highly valued as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, caring individuals who can provide companionship and emotional support.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to document care notes accurately.
• Ability to follow written and verbal plans of care and work independently.
• Current CPR & First Aid Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and light household assistance per Plan of Care.
• Offer social engagement through conversation, activities, and reading.
• Support emotional well-being and mental alertness of clients.
• Assist with light housekeeping: vacuuming, dusting, laundry, dishes, bathroom/kitchen cleaning.
• Complete documentation and care notes accurately and on time.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain client confidentiality.

Position Summary

The housekeeper provides companionship, emotional support, and light household assistance to clients while following each client’s individualized Plan of Care. This role plays an important part in helping clients remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their homes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, non-medical care based on each client’s Plan of Care
• Offer companionship through conversation, reading, activities, and social engagement
• Support clients’ emotional well-being and mental alertness
• Assist with light housekeeping duties

• Complete documentation and care notes accurately and on time
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain client confidentiality

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement)
• Current CPR & First Aid Certification
• Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are considered strong assets
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Dependable, punctual, and organized

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully
• Professional attitude with honesty and integrity

Physical & Working Conditions

• Regular physical activity including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and light lifting (up to 12 kg / 25 lbs) ---- -Manual dexterity and strength in both hands required
• Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases
• Work performed within clients’ homes in the community

Our office serves seniors in Victoria and surrounding communities, including James Bay, Saanich, Oak Bay, Gordon Head, etc. This position may require travel to those areas – we do our best to match you with clients in your area.
