Job summary

McDougall Energy is seeking an experienced Regional Operations Manager to lead our Southwestern Ontario operations. Reporting to the VP of Operations, this role provides leadership to multiple branches, drives safety, efficiency, and customer service.

The ideal candidate will have a university degree or college diploma with ten or more years in operations management, strong customer service, and proven leadership in change and team development.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a university degree and no less than a Community College Diploma in business, operations/logistics or related field or a minimum of ten years as an operations Manager.
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressive management experience, ideally in the fuel/energy sector.
  • Excellent customer service skills / CX Knowledge and Training.
  • Proven team leadership / coaching skills, including delegation through other managers.
  • Proven leadership in managing change and driving continuous improvement initiatives and efficiencies.
  • Bridgebuilder across functional areas and effective at developing strong teams and promoting employee engagement.
  • Working knowledge of oil, gas, and liquid fuels code requirements, as well as Ministry of Transportation, Employment Standards, OHSA and other relevant legislation / regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of the fuel delivery / service industry, practices, and processes.
  • Working knowledge of office processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to manage sensitive communications with tact and diplomacy, and the ability to interact with and influence various stakeholders at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Solid time management and organization skills, including the ability to effectively balance multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership, oversight, and support for a dedicated group of Operations Managers across multiple branches in the Southwest Region.
  • Ensuring employee and customer safety by promoting adherence to all MEI Standard Operating Procedures, Company Policies, and regulatory compliance practices.
  • Coaching and guiding Operations Managers in overseeing daily regional operations to ensure delivery and service activities are safe, effective, and efficient.
  • Monitoring KPIs and reports to optimize operational efficiency across operating sites while maintaining regulatory and budget compliance.
  • With the VP of operations, preparing and monitoring annual expense budgets for assigned operations. Controls expenses, approving major operational expenditures / purchase orders in adherence with Accounts Payable processes and procedures, as well as Delegation of Authority Policy.
  • Ensuring timely completion of all plant and service inspections by Operations Managers for all assigned operations, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Managing key performance indicators for inventory, turnover and optimizing balances for each operation, in collaboration with Operations Managers, Finance, and Leadership Team.
  • Providing a positive customer experience, responding to escalated customer enquiries or complaints. Monitoring delivery performance to ensure customer expectations are met through consistent on‑time service.
  • Working in conjunction with Corporate Regulatory Staff to develop operational policies and processes for assigned region.
  • Reviewing and responding to variations in weekly and monthly KPI reports (operational, financial, safety).
  • Monitoring fleet readiness, equipment availability, and asset utilization to support operational demands.
  • Ensuring that daily and/or seasonal operational priorities such as rack swings, allocations, and service coverages are being maximized.
  • Managing overall individual performance, supporting elements such as balanced scorecards, continuous improvement initiatives, while promoting One MEI and the company’s Values.

About The Opportunity
