Job Summary
As a strategic business partner, the Regional HR Manager will lead the HR agenda across North American operations to support a high-performing, innovative, and inclusive workplace. This role is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for delivering integrated human capital solutions aligned with business priorities.
The successful candidate will foster a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and talent development, while ensuring tactical HR compliance and employee engagement.
Responsibilities
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & HR Partnership: Serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders on workforce planning, organization design, and culture transformation. Translate business strategy into HR initiatives that drive performance, employee experience, and operational outcomes. Champion data-driven decision making and provide insights through people analytics.
- Recruiting & Selection: Responsible for the recruiting and selection process, in coordination with HR Shared Services. Assist management in evaluating open positions, defining requirements, and conducting selection interviews. Promote inclusive hiring practices and strong MTI branding.
- Compensation & Benefits: Ensure application of the MTI Compensation Philosophy and Processes, including compensation for new hires, promotions, and annual planning. Obtain necessary approvals for pay decisions and benefit program improvements within the Global Total Compensation Framework.
- Labor Relations (where applicable): Collaborate with senior management to develop labor relations strategies where unions or works councils are present. Participate actively in union negotiations, focusing on pay and benefit changes.
- Employee Relations: Oversee the employee experience, fostering a positive work environment through proactive relations and issue resolution. Promote MTI Values, especially diversity and inclusion.
- Compliance: Manage compliance with all relevant legal requirements. Ensure transparent communication regarding organizational changes and timely responses to grievances.
- Performance Management: Oversee the performance review process, coach managers, and address performance issues. Support employee development activities.
- Organization Development: Act as a consultant for organization assessment, structure, and effectiveness. Lead initiatives to develop high-performance work systems.
- Talent Management: Identify key talent, support succession planning, and oversee development plans.
- Operational Excellence: Apply continuous improvement processes to HR delivery, acting as a champion for operational excellence.
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 5 years in an HR generalist role, preferably in manufacturing; experience supporting Canadian operations is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven ability to coach and influence senior leaders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational savvy and change management skills.
- Comfortable working within a matrix organization.
- Self-motivated and capable of performing at strategic, tactical, and administrative levels.
- Experience in leading, motivating, and developing teams.
- Ability to simplify complex situations and deliver operational value.
- Proficient in MS Office and HRIS systems.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
- Experience with High Performance Work Systems is a plus.
- Must be able to work required shifts, including overtime, holidays, and weekends as necessary.
