Maple Lodge Farms, Canada’s largest poultry processor, is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Technician to maintain and repair ammonia systems at our Brampton facility. You will work under the Cogeneration Manager to ensure safe, efficient operation of refrigeration equipment and support preventive maintenance programs.

The role requires 6–10 years of ammonia plant experience, SCADA/PLC knowledge, and compliance with CFIA and food-safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years' experience in an ammonia plant
  • Extensive knowledge of ammonia systems, pumps and compressors
  • Knowledge of ammonia controls, SCADA and PLC
  • Familiar with CFIA, GMP, HACCP and food safety standards
  • OHSA and WHMIS knowledge
  • Analytical with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task

Responsibilities

  • Rebuilds and repairs ammonia pumps, compressors, valves and controls
  • Tests ammonia systems per TSSA safety requirements and performs preventative maintenance
  • Maintains refrigeration equipment and calibrates instruments and controls
  • Assists in troubleshooting plant operation problems
  • Assists contractor with new installations
  • Adheres to department policies and procedures for consistent work quality

Reporting to the Cogeneration Manager, the Senior Refrigeration Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of ammonia compressors, ammonia pumps, water chillers, air units, CDI unit, condensers, air chill system, air compressor and driers, purger, ice making system, feed water pumps, deaerator, water softeners, heat exchangers, and Kemco boiler. This is to fill an existing position in the company.

Week 1: Tuesday – Saturday from 7:00am – 3:30pm
Week 2: Monday – Friday from 7:00am – 3:30pm
Salary Range: $39.47 To $46.50 Hourly

What you will be doing:
  • Rebuilds and repairs ammonia pumps, compressors, valves and controls, etc..
  • Conducts testing of ammonia systems as per TSSA safety requirements and carries out ammonia equipment and system preventative maintenance according to prescribed schedules.
  • Maintains all refrigeration equipment in good operating condition and calibrates instruments and controls.
  • Assists in troubleshooting Plant operation problems.
  • Assists outside contractors with new installations.
  • Policies, Processes & Procedures; follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
What you will bring:
  • Minimum 6-10 years’ experience in an ammonia plant, and extensive knowledge of ammonia systems, pumps and compressors;
  • Ability to overhaul and rebuild ammonia equipment;
  • Knowledge of ammonia controls, Scada system and PLC;
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS;
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem‑solving capabilities;
  • Ability to excel in a fast‑paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi‑tasking is essential;
  • Refrigeration A Certificate issued by TSSA.
