We are seeking a Recruitment Advisor to provide leadership and advise in recruitment practices, policies and programs for union, non-union and management positions. The individual will work closely with departments in identifying short and long term staffing needs and appropriate recruitment strategies.
Reporting to the Recruitment Manager, the ideal candidate is a skilled advisor and passionate about recruitment. This role will collaborate closely with other members of the Human Resources team and business leaders.
Responsibilities will include:
- Work closely with departments in identifying short and long-term staffing needs and appropriate recruitment strategies.
- Conduct full-cycle recruitment including proactively sourcing candidates, advertising, screening resumes, interviews, employment offers, reference checking and onboarding.
- Support the achievement of Calgary Co-op Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) objectives with respect to training programs and practices.
- Ensure internal job boards, external employment advertising and social media are up-to-date. This will include input and recommendations for the Calgary Co-op website and other media vehicles (i.e., recruitment display, mail outs, and in store signage).
- Positively influence and develop relationships with hiring managers.
- Champion recruitment best practices and demonstrate flexibility to adjust strategies to unique needs of the business.
- Provide leadership and advice to designated centres or divisions regarding the recruitment function, including regular site visits and training of hiring managers on recruitment process and practices.
- Participate in candidate sourcing through diverse pools and avenues such as associations, educational institutions, career fairs and events.
- Provide hiring recommendations in line with Calgary Co-op Policy and Procedures and the Collective Agreement.
- Coordinate with line management, the filling of vacant position by transfer, selection, relocation, priority placement, or external recruitment.
- Provide labour relations leadership to line management, including but not limited to, administration of the collective agreement, input and participation as required in the grievance process, provide input for the negotiating committee, representing the recruitment function, as directed, in meetings with the union executive.
- Be a Calgary Co-op ambassador and assist with developing the company's brandas a Top employer.
- Create an exceptional candidate experience and guide them through the hiring and onboarding process.
- Prepare recruitment metrics, analysis and reports.
- Provide leadership and direction while upholding confidentiality in all lines of business including the administration of the policies and procedures for the company.
- Participate in the development and action of yearly competency performance work plan and development action plan.
Qualifications
- Completion of post-secondary education
- Five to eight years of recruitment experience preferably with 2 or more years in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated experience in labour relations, policy interpretation and Human Rights Legislation as it relates to recruitment practices
- Client-focused orientation and commitment to provide quality services
- Effective communicator with strong analytical, organizational, and influencing skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience in managing recruitment and onboarding projects of different scope, magnitude and significance
- Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to form and maintain long-term positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Able to effectively collaborate and build relationships with other departments/divisions
- Display the ability to act with diplomacy, tact and professionalism at all times and to maintain an environment of confidentiality
- Effectively prioritize, handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable Qualifications
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation
- Working experience with Oracle is an asset.
- Experience in a retail environment
