Job summary

AgeCare seeks a Recreation Therapist to assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapy programs for residents. This role uses recreation and leisure to support functional ability and well-being in line with AgeCare policies.

You will complete resident assessments, develop goals with families and the team, and guide Therapy Aides. Precise documentation and progress reporting are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy from an accredited program.
• Eligibility for provincial registration with a relevant therapeutic recreation body (where applicable).
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred; gerontology is an asset.
• Ability to perform resident assessments and work with MDS documentation.

Responsibilities

• Complete resident assessments to identify needs, interests, strengths, and abilities.
• Develop and implement individualized recreation therapy goals and plans; communicate with residents, families, and the team.
• Promote participation in programs that enhance quality of life.
• Provide guidance to Recreation Therapy Aides in delivering programs.
• Ensure timely documentation of assessments, progress notes, and charting.
• Share progress and recommendations during Interdisciplinary Team meetings.
• Contribute to planning, coordination, and evaluation of programs and resources.
