Job summary

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking a permanent, full-time Coordinator, Recreation Services to support day-to-day operation of recreation programming in the Parks, Recreation and Cemeteries division. You will work with the Supervisor and Manager to develop and deliver programs.

The role requires leadership, event planning, budget awareness, and coordination of staff and volunteers. A remote-friendly hybrid work arrangement is available with on-site meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• College certificate or diploma in a relevant field with 4–6 years of related experience.
• Experience in community recreation event planning.
• Experience working with special needs preferred.
• Supervisory and leadership experience.
• Experience with recruitment and training processes for staff, students and volunteers.
• Experience with operating budgets and program marketing campaigns.
• Proficient in using social media for outreach and engagement.
• Working knowledge of PerfectMind, UKG, JD Edwards; strong computer skills (MS Office).

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of students in a fast-paced environment.
• Assist with daily operations of recreation programming.
• Assist with development, implementation and evaluation of programs/events.
• Identify opportunities to increase revenue and participation.
• Manage budgets and fundraising/sponsorship efforts.
• Coordinate program marketing campaigns and related tasks.
• Support recruitment and training of staff, students and volunteers.
• Collaborate with co-workers, management and the public on recreation issues.
