Job summary

City of Vernon is seeking a Recreation Program Coordinator to assess community needs, design and implement a wide range of recreation programs and events. The role involves coordinating with community groups, securing partnerships and managing program budgets.

The position reports to the Manager, Recreation Services and requires leadership, communication, and strong organizational skills to ensure high-quality programming and safe, engaging experiences for residents.

Qualifications

• Certificate/Diploma in Community Recreation or similar discipline.
• Three years experience in the area of Community Recreation and programming.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office, CLASS and Quark and the use of general office equipment.
• Valid B.C. Drivers Licence.
• Current Basic First Aid Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assesses community recreation programming needs and interests; designs and develops programs to meet those needs.
• Hires contractors to deliver programs and coordinates, schedules and evaluates programs and events.
• Maintains records of registrations, attendance, revenues and expenditures; prepares reports.
• Coordinates facility bookings and directs staff for setup, rentals and programs.
• Secures partnerships and sponsorships to support program operations and revenue.
• Prepares budgets and assists with department financial planning.
