Job summary

The Town of Riverview is seeking a collaborative Community Recreation Coordinator to plan, deliver and evaluate inclusive sport, recreation and leisure programs for diverse community groups. This role leads staff, builds partnerships and helps manage budgets to enhance life quality in Riverview.

Reporting to the Recreation Manager, you will implement procedures, recruit and onboard personnel, oversee accessibility initiatives and monitor program effectiveness against plans and NB safety

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Sport Studies, Kinesiology, Psychology, Sociology, or equivalent related Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in community recreation programming and/or recreation planning, including leadership or supervisory.
  • Experience developing inclusive recreation opportunities for people of diverse ages, abilities and backgrounds.
  • Proven leadership, team and personnel development and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement Town policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and implement NB Occupational Health & Safety Act and WorkSafe NB regulations.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, strong presentation skills, and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Workplace First Aid and CPR/AED certified.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Criminal Record Check to meet Town standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develop, coordinate, promote and evaluate sport, recreation and community leisure programs and services.
  • Supervises, trains and supports assigned recreation staff and program delivery personnel; assigns work, develops schedules, conducts performance evaluations and provides direction on program and procedural matters.
  • Develops and implements recreation services procedures, standards and operating practices to support consistent program delivery.
  • Works with Human Resources on recruitment, selection and onboarding of assigned recreation staff and program delivery personnel.
  • Provides oversight of the P.R.O Kids program and other recreation access and inclusion initiatives.
  • Monitors recreation program and services against approved budgets and supports budget development, forecasting and performance reporting.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and/or seminars as required.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with sport, recreation, school, community organization and other service partners.
  • Evaluate recreation services, monitor participation and emerging trends, and recommend service improvements and new opportunities.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve recreation services, streamline work processes and support effective departmental operations.
  • Leads the development and expansion of recreation services, including active living, fitness, sport, youth recreation and drop-in programming.
  • Maintains positive and professional relationships with Town employees and the public.
  • Coordinates recreation program information for registration, promotional and communications materials.
  • Provides oversight of recreation programming and activation within Town facilities, parks, trails, sport facilities and other recreation spaces.
  • Coordinates annual and seasonal recreation service plans to support effective use of staff, facilities and resources.
  • Collaborates with other departmental staff on recreation components of festivals, events, and community initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required by the departmental management.

Working Conditions:

Incumbent may be required to work non-traditional hours including days, evenings, weekend, and holidays. The work may be carried out in various locations and/or Town Facilities.

This is a salaried, full-time, permanent position.

Salary Range: Min: $67,502 Mid: $81,003 Max: $94,503
