Qualifications

• Grade 12 and completion of recognized recreational courses.
• Two years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination.
• Valid Class 4 BC Driver's License (unrestricted).
• Food Safe Certificate.
• Current certification in Basic First Aid and CPR Level C.

Responsibilities

• Carry out resident recreation/leisure programs such as arts, crafts, sports, music, and cultural events; set up and organize furnishings and equipment; teach techniques and oversee activities.
• Carry out resident recreation/leisure programs outside the facility; check that residents have appropriate clothing and equipment; coordinate with nursing/medical staff; move residents during activities.
• Provide direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrate techniques.
• Prepare food items with residents by counting, weighing and measuring ingredients; mix beverages and serve food.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and materials; report malfunctions to the Recreation Coordinator.
• Organize and maintain program activity areas.
• Provide input at planning meetings on recreation/leisure activities and resident participation.
• Drive residents to and from outings and accompany residents; operate passenger transportation vehicle.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
