Job summary

Covenant Care is seeking a Recreation Assistant to plan, implement, and evaluate recreation and leisure activities for residents under the supervision of the Recreational Therapist. You will work as part of a dedicated team to promote wellness, engagement and quality of life.

Requirements include a Therapeutic Recreation Diploma or Degree, a valid Class 4 driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 3 months), CPR/First Aid, and at least 2 years of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Therapeutic Recreation Diploma / Degree required.
  • Valid Class 4 driver's license required or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Two years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR valid.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs for residents.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote resident participation.
  • Support recreation & leisure programming and report to the Recreational Therapist.
  • Model Covenant Care's mission, vision and values in daily work.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Recreational Therapist the Recreation Assistant will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs and interests of the residents. The Recreation Assistant works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote resident awareness and participation in programs and opportunities and support recreation & leisure programming for the residents.

This position will:

  • Model the organizations' mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively.
  • Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications:
  • Therapeutic Recreation Diploma / Degree required
  • Possess a valid Class 4 driver's license is required or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to maintain good working relations with staff, public and outside agencies
  • Flexibility with changes in the organization and maintain a positive outlook
  • Valid/current First Aid and CPR
  • Two (2) years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred
