Job summary

Covenant Care welcomes all who share a calling to serve those most in need. Holy Cross Manor in Calgary seeks a Recreation Assistant to plan, implement and evaluate recreation and leisure activities that meet residents’ physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs, under the supervision of the Recreational Therapist.

You will collaborate with the healthcare team, model the organization’s mission and values, and help create a caring, inclusive environment for residents and their families.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Class 4 driver's license.
• Valid/current First Aid and CPR.
• 1–2 years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred.
• Ability to maintain good working relations with staff, public and outside agencies.
• Flexibility with changes in the organization and maintain a positive outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs for residents.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote resident awareness and participation.
• Support recreation & leisure programming for residents.
• Model Covenant Care and Covenant Living's mission, vision and values in daily actions.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Recreational Therapist the Recreation Assistant will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs and interests of the residents. The Recreation Assistant works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote resident awareness and participation in programs and opportunities and support recreation & leisure programming for the residents.

This position will:

• Model the organizations' mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively.
• Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid Class 4 driver's license is required
• Ability to maintain good working relations with staff, public and outside agencies

• One (1) to two (2) years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred
