Job summary

Fraser Health Authority in Mission, BC seeks an Activity Worker to carry out resident recreation and leisure programs that support health and well-being. Qualifications include Grade 12 and Food Safe Level 1, with two years of related experience or an equivalent combination.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Carry out established resident recreation/leisure programs (arts, crafts, sports, woodworking, cooking, horticulture, exercises, outings); set up and organize furnishings and equipment; teach techniques and monitor activities.
• Coordinate activities outside the facility; ensure residents have appropriate clothing and equipment; verify plans with nursing/medical staff; coordinate movement during activities.
• Provide direction to volunteers during programs; demonstratе techniques and give feedback.
• Prepare and maintain bulletin boards, flip charts and materials advertising activities.
• Inform housekeeping of monthly setup requirements; monitor, record and report issues to the Recreation Therapist.
• Prepare food items with residents by counting, weighing and measuring ingredients; portion and serve items.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies; purchase necessary items in consultation with Recreation Therapist.
• Organize and maintain program activity areas.
• Provide input at planning meetings regarding resident participation in activities.
