Job summary

Porter Airlines Inc. is seeking a Receiving Inspector to manage the full receiving of rotables, tools, and expendables, and to record parts movements in the quarantine area.

You will audit after-hours receiving, ensure compliance with Maintenance Control Manual and Transport Canada requirements, and coordinate with Purchasing and Maintenance to resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of component traceability, including P/N, S/N, batch/lot numbers, certification status.
  • Excellent documentation, record-keeping, computer and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of CARs, Transport Canada requirements for aircraft components.
  • 1–2 years experience in an aircraft Stores/parts environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate aircraft component certification and traceability documentation.
  • Record time to the component and set/reset constraints in the maintenance tracking system.
  • Create and track part requirements in the maintenance tracking system.
  • Control shelf life items to permit timely removal from inventory.
  • Audit after-hours receiving for compliance with procedures.
  • Place suspect material in quarantine and prevent use of uncertified parts.
  • Maintain quarantine area to prevent use of uncertified material on aircraft.
  • Follow up on snagged, quarantined and RMA receivings by priority.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Repair and Overhaul, and Vendors on certification of incoming items.
  • Liaise with Technical Records to resolve discrepancies on on-wing/off-wing parts.
  • Process all incoming AOG parts with high priority and notify Maintenance.
  • Process all RMA’s by priority.
  • Support Porter’s SMS and safety policy; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Receiving Inspector will carry out the complete receiving of all rotables, tools, consumables and expendables, while also maintaining and recording parts movements within the quarantine room. The Receiving Inspector will also be responsible for auditing any after-hours receiving carried out by Aircraft Material Handlers to ensure all items are received in accordance with the procedures identified in the Maintenance Control Manual.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to review and validate aircraft component certification and traceability documentation to determine whether documentation meets applicable Transport Canada requirements and company procedures prior to acceptance of aircraft components into inventory.
  • Ensure accurate time to the component is recorded as required for incoming parts and set/reset constraints as applicable in the maintenance tracking system.
  • Ensure all part requirements as outlined in the certification documents are created, and/or properly tracked within the maintenance tracking system.
  • Ensure control is recorded on all "shelf life" items to permit timely removal of the item from inventory so it may not be issued for use on an aircraft after it has expired.
  • Conduct audits of after-hours receiving performed by Aircraft Material Handlers to ensure all items are received in accordance with the procedures identified in the Maintenance Control Manual and any discrepancies are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the placement in quarantine of all suspect material, components or parts which are found to be suspect of being defective or otherwise damaged and can not be of use on an aircraft.
  • Maintain a quarantine area to place items to prevent the use of uncertified material, parts or components from being installed or used on Company aircraft.
  • Ensure all snagged, quarantined and RMA receivings are followed up with in a timely manner and actioned according to priority.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Repair and Overhaul, and Vendors regarding the company certification of all incoming items.
  • Liaise with the Technical Records team to solve discrepancies regarding on-wing and off wing parts.
  • Ensure all incoming AOG parts are processed with the highest priority and that Maintenance is notified of their arrival.
  • Ensure all RMA’s are processed by priority.
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of component traceability, including P/N, S/N, batch/lot numbers, certification status, shelf life, life limits, and supporting maintenance documentation
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation, record-keeping, computer, and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), particularly CAR 571 and CAR 573, and Transport Canada requirements for aircraft components.
  • 1-2 years experience in an aircraft Stores/parts environment. (Preferred)
  • 1-2 years working within a Maintenance Tracking Systems (AMOS an asset)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively as well as, bend and kneel
